ScotiaHost.com was primarily set up to compliment my web design services, and to provide my clients with premium web hosting at an affordable price, however I also offer this service to anyone else that asks. I'm not looking to get 50,000 clients, rather this is a boutique style web hosting service instead, so you won't see much in the way of flashy ads or crazy promotions.
TEST After much research I have partnered with Nerdie Networks to offer world class web hosting. Their data centres, equipment and personel are second to none. Everything has redundant backups, your data included. They have equipment located all over the world as fail-over backup. You get the best of both worlds - world class data center technology and procedures, top of the line equipment, experienced people looking after everything, and personal service from the owner of the company.
I don't allow file sharing or torrents, adult content, spam of any conceivable sort, streaming media, hacking, phishing, or other fraudulent or illegal activities, gambling sites, hate speech or other abusive content, or hosting data that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights. Use common sense. This service is primarily geared towards the needs of small/medium businesses and organizations, and I intend to protect my clients from the consquences of sharing their server with seedy characters.
Just so we're crystal clear, I reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account deemed to be inappropriate according to the above without refund. You have been warned. If your intention is to try any of the above or similar activities, go find shared hosting somewhere where they have mass produced customer support and get lost in the crowd.
The terms are full payment is required per year, in advance. Payments can be made with credit cards, PayPal, or if you would prefer I can take cash or cheque. Out of town cheques must clear before service is given.
I don't sell or provide domain names. I believe that it's better if you buy and register your domain name separately yourself, so that it's not tied to your web hosting (just in case you decide to move later on, etc.). I also don't bother with affiliate marketing of domain names, and it doesn't really matter to me where you get it from. There are thousands of places to buy a domain name, the choice is yours, however I can recommend netfirms.ca (especially good for .ca) or godaddy.com as some big ones that are reliable and reasonable in cost. The information you will need to point your domain to ScotiaHost are the nameservers, which are ns1.scotiahost.com and ns2.scotiahost.com.
Ideally, you should have your domain name set up before your hosting account.
To sign up for web hosting, please fill in this form. If you indicate PayPal as the payment method, you will recieve an invoice in your email within 24 hours. Once that has been paid your hosting will be set up and you will receive email instructions for access.
If you indicate cheque or cash, a pdf invoice will be emailed to you. Once your cheque clears your hosting will be set up and instructions emailed to you.
